Ducky One 3 Daybreak - Sprung, Lubed and Backlit
Despite its high cost, the board as stock had a lot of spring ping and the switches were a little scratchy. Upon opening the switches I found some short wide springs which were under very little tension at rest, allowing for the awful noise. I replaced them with some 67g springs that were taller and tighter, which all but eliminated the ping just on it's own. On top of that I lubed the springs housings and stems, taking care to leave the stem legs/cams and leaf spring dry. This really accentuated the tactile bump of the MX Clears and gave a more positive response.
To make the most of the backlighting, I swapped the stock caps out for some backlit ones. After trying a few combinations I settled on Tai-Hao Forrest Deep Blue, with some additional light gray and orange on the modifiers. It's almost perfect for the look I wanted. I just wish the Tai-Hao set had icons for the Win and Menu keys rather than text.
Got some custom Pexon PCs CA Les ont he way to match, so watch this space!
