Serika

Overview

The QK65 from Qwertykeys caused a shockwave of excitement because of the low price, features and materials offered, and overall design. It combines the high quality characteristics with an entry-level price. This unit has the gray upper frame (which appears more akin to silver in pictures) with a black PVD-finished stamped stainless steel weight and black aluminum full plate, along with a wired hot-swappable PCB. It is built using the gasket socks with case and plate foams, but no PE sheet.

Keycap set of choice is GMK Serika 2 with the latin core for the comfortable, soft cream and gray paired with the bright, happy yellow. The excellent Wuque MM custom switches were selected for their customization and fun material/color options, and they have been lubed and filmed for extra smoothness (which is completely unnecessary). The included Owlstab V2s have a light coating of dielectric grease on the wire ends.

To elaborate upon the specific configuration of MM switches chosen, they have the UHMWPE upper and lower housings paired with LY stems resting on 53g tri-stage springs. The result is a comfortable, snappy switch with an incredibly smooth travel and enjoyable sound profile. Lube and films are not necessary at all, but was done to capitalize upon the smoothness as much as possible and to soften the sound a bit.
