I got my Mod 005 second hand off the market, as this was the only "high end" budget board I could afford. For me, it was already a big upgrade from previous boards I have owned (and now sold), namely the Rumi61 and the Magicforce 68.
Having bought this second hand, there were already some modifications done to it such as the PE foam being added.
Being on a budget, I wasn't able to buy brand new switches and keycaps to go along with the board, so I used my previous keycaps and switches from my Rumi61 instead. My keycaps are already so scuffed which annoys me but I'm still happy with the outcome of this build.
Overall, I am very happy with how this build turned out and I can say that it was worth it to sell my previous board and upgrade to the Akko Mod 005. I'm planning to replace my keycaps soon so the board could have a cleaner look overall. To others, I know this isn't much but for me, this has already been by far one of the most high end experiences that I've had with mechanical keyboards.
Akko Mod 005: My ACTUAL First Custom Keyboard
Hello! Although owning prebuilt mechanical keyboards in the past and customized them, I can proudly say that this is my ACTUAL first custom mechanical keyboard!
It is a second hand black Akko Mod 005 with the following specs:
Switches: Gateron Milky Yellows (Lubed with Krytox 205g0)
Stabilizers: Stock Plate Mounted Stabilizers (Lubed with Krytox 205g0)
Keycaps: GeekArk BOW
Mods: PE Foam Mod, Tape Mod, Force Break Mod
I know this is nothing compared to other builds, but I am very happy with how my board turned out and I'm really enjoying typing on it
